AJAX finally started the game well, kicking 4 goals straight in the first quarter.  Placing themselves in a competitive situation.  

The work rate and intensity of the players was on display.  AJAX continued to remain competitive to be within 4 goals at ¾ quarter time.  

Fitzroy kicked 6 goals straight in the last quarter to eventually run out 43 point winners.
