AJAX v Old Geelong - Away

Old Geelong had the better of the first quarter having 26 more disposals, 5 more marks and 2 more clearances than AJAX converting this dominance into a 31 point quarter time lead. It was AJAX’s in ability to restrain Old Geelong who broke 8 tackles in the quarter than was addressed at quarter time with AJAX lifting in intensity outscoring Old Geelong by 7 points over the remaining 3 quarters.  

AJAX eventually winning clearance, contested possession and effective tackles, the desire of the AJAX players could not be questioned.  What needs to be improved is the decision making and skill execution such that these two categories can match the intensity shown by the players.  AJAX had opportunities to take the game deep into the last quarter but missed opportunities eventually saw Old Geelong win by 24 points.
