AJAX v Old Trinity

AJAX returned to their spiritual home in South Caulfield to play Old Trinity, one of the side down from Premier Division.  

A large crowd gathered to commemorate Yom HaShoah Ve-Hagevurah, with an exceptionally moving ceremony prior to the commencement of the senior game.  

AJAX won the toss but Old Trinity dominated the early stages of the first quarter.  AJAX regained their composure and wrestled back some control of the quarter, but again permitted late goals to be scored against them.  Old Trinity’s inaccuracy saw them take an 18 point advantage into quarter time.  

AJAX had control of the second quarter by were to be inaccurate kicking 4. 5 to be 4 points down at half time.  

Old Trinity made better use of the ball, than AJAX, in the third quarter and were 23 points up at ¾ quarter time.  Despite statistical dominance in key indicators AJAX skill errors were to prove costly as Old Trinity ran out eventual winners by 30 points.  

A more disciplined effort than round 1 but players nee to develop their skills under pressure to get the reward for the effort they are displaying

Not the result we were after. It was a tightly contested game in the last until Old Trinity kicked away. The Ajax midfield fought hard all day and provided opportunities to score however we failed to capitalise on some of our good work. Whilst progress can be seen within the team, skill execution has to improve in order for us to finish four quarters and earn wins. Although the results have not gone our way, we are a process driven team and developments are being made. With a 0-2 start the team is looking for a big response this upcoming week against De La Salle.
