AJAX v  St Bedes/Mentone Tigers

The D1 team took on the St Bedes/Mentone Tigers at 11:40 AM at Brindisi Street Oval. It was a rough day for the Jackas who never got going, losing by 40 points.

AJAX were on the back foot early. In windy conditions, the Mentone Tigers kicked 5.5 in the opening term. Despite admirable play from Brandon Efron and Adam Ossip the Jackas were only able to kick 1 goal in the opening quarter and were left with plenty of work to do for the rest of the game. 

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. AJAX could never gain control and make a dent in Mentone's lead. Jesse Velleman was a shining light, kicking 3 goals for the game but the Jackas still trailed by 35 points at the main break. 

Any momentum AJAX had built in the later stages of the second quarter quickly went away. Mentone kicked 4 goals during the third quarter to the Jacka's 1. Tahl Marabel-Whitburn fought hard in the ruck but the score line was heavily in favour of Mentone going into the final term with the Tigers up by 56 points. 

The final term saw AJAX's defence shine, only conceding 2 points in the quarter. Unfortunately, the Jacka's couldn't do much damage on the scoreboard only managing the 2 goals as they went down 12.14 86 to 6.10 46.
