AJAX v Old Haileyburians
The D1 boys took on the Old Haileyburians at Gary Smorgon Oval at 11:40 AM. It was a fantastic day for the Jackas, winning by 17 points, 69-52.
AJAX started like a house on fire. It was Adam Ossip and Gabe Takac (3 goals for the game) who were some of the best on the day, helping the Jackas kick five first-quarter goals to Old Haileyburians two.
In the second term, roles were reversed. It was AJAX who struggled to extend their lead, only managing four behinds in the quarter. Old Haileyburians managed to get on the front foot kicking three goals but for all their dominance the AJAX defense held strong to be within striking distance at the main break.
In the second half, AJAX found what made them perform so well in the opening quarter. Kai Gold and Joel Burston lead from the front as the Jackas piled on 4 goals, re-establishing control of the contest.
The last quarter was a scrappy and contested one. AJAX was inaccurate, kicking 1.6 but managed to hold on to win the game.
The D1 team takes on Williamstown CYMS at Gary Smorgon Oval at 11:40 AM for their round 5 game.
