Round 4

AJAX v Bulleen Templestowe - Away
In wet conditions, the Jackettes travelled out to Bulleen in a big game for both teams. With both clubs sitting at one and two for the season it was a real battle in the first quarter, with Bulleen taking a narrow 2 point lead at quarter time. Boylan was everywhere scoring the first for the Jackettes.
The Jackettes had most of the play in the 2nd term, however couldn’t convert scoring 4 behinds to Bulleens solitary goal. The Jackettes missed some set shot chances and even though we trailed by 4 points at the main break, the girls felt like they were playing the better footy and right in the game. Boylan again racked up the touches together with Cobbe and J Caplan, whilst Gunn and Goldberg were having break out games in defence.
The Jackettes again seemed to have most of the play in the 3rd term, but goals were hard to come by. Boylan scored hers and the teams second goal which saw the Jackettes 5 points down at ¾ time. Mrocki , Shustin and Nankin were having good games with Payne-Gill and Burstin as reliable as ever in the back half.
The girls were prepared to fight it out and with only a minute gone it was Folwell who scored to put the Jackettes up by a point. Boylan was continuing to impress with Goldman and Caplan getting plenty of it. With the majority of the ball in the last quarter spent it the Jackettes forward line, it was a great Cobbe goal from distance that put the girls more than a goal up in the last few minutes. The ball was successfully locked in our forward line and a much needed and well deserved win was had.
Goals: Boylan 2 , Folwell , Cobbe
Bests: Boylan , J Caplan, Cobbe, Nankin, Marget, Gunn.
