AJAX v Parkside - Away
Episode 8: “Sometimes you kick, sometimes get kicked” (INXS)
With the continued break ins and robberies occurring at the nursery, not to mention the unfortunate disruption to the ferry service back from Whiteys Island, the trip to Parkside was always going to be a challenging one
Just as an aside, I’ve reached out to the AFP to have better security and surveillance put in place to bring the troubles at the Nursery to a swift end
Putting a team together this week was a difficult task, but as this group has shown, adversity is the water line to always rise above. In all truth, what it has shown is that we are blessed to have within our community a group of young men who are willing to help out, willing to put in the effort, willing to have a crack when it is their turn
Look at Noah Kay (aka RUoK)
Standing at 3’8” (in clogs) and weighing in at 43 kg, he stood tall amongst the giants that towered over him today. It was a brilliant example of what is possible when you apply yourself, when you are brave, when you take it on. What is little know amongst the group, though, is that this week he rang up his soccer coach (Ange Postecoglou) and told him that he is no longer for the round ball game. He is an AJAX footy man! How good!
We lost today, but just like RUoK, there were many really positive things that happened too
“The golfer” at Centre Half Back was enormous
The dynamic duo - Batman and Robin - Ethan and Logan - ran all day. When we took the GPS readers out of their jumpers they’d covered 28km … each
The hyphen, even if he is only 17 years old, showed what a future talent he is
Shostak kicked goals that only the true believers can kick (or the Daicos boys)
So, the winning streak may have come to an end, but today the lads that put in the AJAX jumper did the jumper proud. I just want to say that it was great to see the whole group apply itself and really take it up to the Parkside team.
Special mention to Jayme Baron for donating his face to serve as a blocking board for Nicholas Rhodes elbow and forearm (#55)
INXS had it right. Sometimes it’s someone else’s turn. And that’s ok.
It’s what you take away from it both individually, and as a group
