Match Report
Round 9
4 June 2022
AJAX v Old Haileyburians
Kicking into a four goal wind in the first quarter, AJAX defended well as a team to be just in the contest at the end of the first quarter.
AJAX didn’t make the most of their opportunities with the wind in the second quarter and late goals to the opposition put a real dampener on a poor first half of football by AJAX.
Coaches message at half time was to recognise the poor first half but then work through what was required defensively in the third quarter to set up for an unlikely win in further quarter.
The 4th quarter was much of the same, where AJAX were beaten to the ball time and time again, as well as in the air, and the opposition ran out easy winners.
On a positive note there were first time goal kickers again for the season and the use of now 42 players in the Development team is good and this will be solid grounding for future games and seasons for all these players.
On the whole a disappointing day given the expectation and confidence in the group before the game. The opposition had first use of the ball too many times to allow easy scoring opportunities throughout the game. A week off to reset for a strong second half of the season to come.
Goals: Gold 2, D Cohen, Rothschild, Levi-Weitzman, Velleman, Spicer
Bests: Light, Polkinghorne-Katz, Gold, Chrapot, Levi-Weitzman
