Round 2
17 April 2021
AJAX v Monash Blues
The D2 team took on the Monash Blues on the Lindsey Hassett Oval at Albert Park at 1pm.
Looking to make it two wins in a row the Jackas started strongly kicking 5 goals to 2 in the first quarter, going in with a 20-point lead at the first break.
Brad Antman starred in the midfield providing great run and service to the forward line. Forward Noah Micmacher was able to be on the receiving end of Antman's great play, kicking 2 goals for the game.
Thanks to great play from Sam Polkinghorne-Katz and Corey Schwartz AJAX were able to hold off a second-quarter challenge from Monash going into the halftime break with a 13-point lead.
AJAX continued its first-half dominance in the third term. Thanks to great second-half performances from Jason Nirens and Gabe Takac (2 goals) they were able to go into three-quarter time with an 18-point lead.
Unfortunately, the Jackas run out of steam in the final term not registering a score. Monash dominated play with a loose man down back picking off any inside 50 entries AJAX had. Monash kicked 4 goals in the final term, walking away 7-point winners 11.8 74 to 10.7 67.
