AJAX v Melbourne High School Old Boys
Ajax Development 2 Team had the chance to lock away a finals spot against another top 4 team in MHSOB.
Theme for the day was IMPACT, in that everything you do on the field has an impact on our team and the result.
The boys were constantly second to the ball, were not getting players back to assist our defence, and as a result found themselves 5 goals down at half time.
Focus in second half was work ethic, and getting more numbers to contest. Ajax kicked the first 3 goals of Q3, with the mids starting to win centre clearance through Marabel-Whitburn, Peker and Glasser, to provide goal scoring opportunities to both Kai and Koby Gold. The boys had the belief they could get over the 3Qtr time deficit, and were right in the contest until late in Q4. Defence was superb all day with Micmacher, Nankin and Danby constantly repelling MHSOB attacks.
In the end, were beaten by a more consistent side over 4Qtrs on the day to go down by just under 3 goals. Well fought out in Q4, but the team needs to get on top of the opposition from Q1, and have a collective effort across 4 quarters.
