Round 5

AJAX v Beaumaris - Away
Coming off an extended break and in the prime time slot of Tuesday night, the AJAX Sundays came up against Beaumaris on their home deck. The team observed a minute silence in the rooms before the game in honour of Yom Hashoah, honouring all those who tragically lost their lives and a reminder that there are more important things in life than football.
On a cold but great night for footy, the Sundays put their foot down early scoring the first few goals of the game as the midfield got the upper hand.
In the second quarter, Beaumaris arrested back the momentum and with quick ball movement hit back on the scoreboard, making it a close game with AJAX having a 14 point lead into the main break.
With a great half time address from the coach, the Sundays came out invigorated with optimism and a hunger for the contest. Exemplified by captain Zev Aron with several important smothers and tackles, the team piled on 8 goals in the second half compared to 2 from Beaumaris finishing up 56 point winners.
It was a truly strong team performance, with standout contributions from Zev, Eitan Potash, Saul Alford in the ruck, and Zac Maidenberg down back.
Looking forward to a big game against St Kevin’s this week!
