AJAX v St Bernards - Home

In the final game of the regular season, the Sunday 1s played in a game that could lock them in to a 2nd placed finish for the year. Coming up against St Bernards in a tie-break game (AJAX and St Bernards 1-1 this year)
It was sure to be a strong and hardfought contest.

All signs pointed to the perfect day, with AJAX putting out their first full strength team for the year, and the sun shining for a warm home game with an excited crowd.

But St Bernards are not a team that get run over easily, and a seesaw first quarter ended with 2 goals a-piece to each side.

The second quarter had the Jackas run out strong, with a slew of goals putting some momentum on the field, Kai Gold kicked a goal in his return, and captain Zev Aron slotted a stunner, shrugging a tackle and putting the ball on the outside of the boot for 6 points. However a late quarter lapse let St Bernards hit hard and fast, piling on 3 quick goals, bringing the contest to a one goal margin in the favour of AJAX.

Running out for the second half the Jackas were ready to bring the heat, and that's exactly what they did, winning the quarter by a goal to extend the margin accordingly.
And the fourth saw St Bernards throw one last punch in an effort to reclaim the game, scoring a goal, but missing a few in a patch of form where they had the Sundays on the back foot. But as they have shown in their winning streak of late, the Jackas know how to finish games strong and put 3 goals on the board to seal the game and put it to bed.

With a mature and emphatic win (81-59) the Jackas jump to second place on the ladder, securing a double chance for finals, and the potential to book a grand final spot with a win in next week's start of the finals series with a win over Xavs, see you there
