AJAX v Beaumaris - Away Trevor Barker Oval

AJAX came into the grand final against Beaumaris full of energy and fight. Beaumaris jumped out early but our boys showed resilience. Nick Lewis set the tone with tough tackling, blocking runs and applying relentless pressure. Reece Israel battled bravely after hurting his shoulder. Toby Lipton dominated in the air with towering marks, while Joel Parasol gave us real drive around the contest. AJAX hit back hard late in the first quarter, showing we were not going away.

In the second quarter Toby Sheezel hurt his ankle and unfortunately could not continue, a tough blow on such a big stage. Despite that setback the group kept pushing. Remy Spicer looked dangerous every time he went near it, sparking us forward and helping us get on top in clearances. Justin Vogel took some big contested marks that lifted the side, while Nick Pike threw himself into everything and held up the defensive wall. The standout in the third quarter was 17 year old Jonty Israel who played with maturity beyond his years and gave us a huge lift. By the last change Ajax had clawed back the margin to 20 points and belief was still alive.

The final term was a fight to the very end. Elliot Debinski, playing his 100th game, showed enormous heart in one on one contests and led by example. Kane Nissenbaum worked tirelessly to shake a heavy tag and kept running all day. Young gun Manny Michmacher impressed with composure well beyond his age, standing tall down back and providing run on the wing. The boys gave everything until the final siren. Every contest, every tackle and every effort showed exactly what Ajax football is all about.

In the end Beaumaris held on but AJAX walked off with pride. The performance was filled with spirit, resilience and togetherness. The future of this group is bright and on grand final day they left nothing in the tank. Their win over Parkdale in the preliminary final also secured promotion to B-grade for the 2026 season, a fitting reward for a team on the rise.
