AJAX v PEGS away

The Jackas are wasting no time in C Grade. The Senior boys made the trek down to Essendon on Saturday to play the PEGS senior team who were sitting at 1-1. The boys knew going into the game that this would be their toughest challenge yet. Inspired by the Anzac Day Last Post, the boys came out with a hot start leading 33-7 after the first Quarter.

Although it was PEGS who stepped up in the second quarter and started to reduce the lead, goal after goal, it became an arm wrestle. PEGS answered with 5 goals to our 2 in the 2nd quarter, cutting our lead to 53-38 at half time. The AJAX boys could feel the heat and with injuries growing on the bench we still refused to back down. It was Justin Vogal’s strong hands around the ground and Richie Simon’s 1 on 1 excellence that kept us in the lead.

AJAX comfortably got over the line, beating PEGS 91-65. Vogal kicked 3 goals, while both Sheezel and Brad Caplan booted 2 a piece. Richie Simon booted another bag, kicking 5 goals and maybe a few too many behinds (7), placing him comfortably at the top of the Prem C goal scoring list, having 20 goals in 3 games. We hope Simon is a bit more consistent this week at Princess park for his 200th game. #RS200
