AJAX v Old Carey
The Jackas hosted Old Carey Grammarians at Princess Park for their second game of the year, with both teams looking to gain momentum and improve to 2-0 for the season.
AJAX started red hot, Richie Simon, Toby Sheezel and Justin Vogel were all dangerous up forward early, helping AJAX reach a 49-13 lead to finish the first quarter.
AJAX continued to improve their lead throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters, reaching a high 120-60 lead at 3 quarter time.
The backline were tough and reliable all day, with Corey Zielinski, Elliot Debinski, and Toby lipton locking down their opponents, whilst Noah Webb and Hutch Davis were intercepting and attacking relentlessly off the defensive half.
The midfield of Nick Lewis, Kane Nissenbaum, Adam Caplan, and Aaron Bryer, worked all day to win AJAX's clearances and dominate forward 50 entries, with the help of max Herzl and Jake Wrobel’s efforts in the ruck.
The Jackas finished the match with an impressive 147-73 win, with Simon and Sheezel combining for a tremendous 12 goals, as well as Adam Caplan kicking 4 majors from the midfield. The senior team look to improve to 3-0 as they take on PEGS at PEGS sports fields next Saturday.
