AJAX v Oakleigh - Away

Despite a week of persistent rain, the skies cleared once again for another perfect Saturday of footy. That being said, the week’s weather combined with the u19s game prior did take its toll on Scammell Reserve, with the centre circle turned into a mud pit. 

Our personnel had also changed slightly from previous weeks with both captain Jordan Tonkin and vice-captain Jono Machlin on the sidelines. There were also some exciting inclusions with Hutch, Remy and Dov returning from injury as well as Rosenwax who has been reliable for the reserves side in several positions when called upon this year. 

With Shenks making the executive call to move the centre bounce slightly out of the mud pit, the game begun play. AJAX set the tone early, with a 6 goal first quarter while keeping the opposition goalless. With the message to continue to break lines and try change direction while moving the ball forward, the reserves side continued on to be victors 20.16 (136) vs 4.4 (28) in another dominant performance. 

Following the game, it was into town for a well deserved meat platter. Mazel tov to our skipper Tonks on the birth of his first kid, they will reportedly both be available for selection next week against PEGS.
