AJAX v PEGS - Home

With Vice Coach Rueben withdrawing early in the week, the AJAX reserves faced uncertainty even before the first bounce. However, this leadership chasm was quickly filled by the return of Captain Tonkin, now a father both on and off the field, following the birth of his son (Mazel Tov, Tonks!).

Understanding the importance of positioning themselves strongly for the pointy end of the season and continuing to bank wins, the AJAX Reserves made it clear they had no intention of giving Pegs a sniff from the first bounce. Cobi personified this determination with a prolific first quarter, winning the hard contested ball and seemingly having the ball on a string. Up forward, Goody was seeing the Sherrin like watermelons, simply grabbing everything and handsomely contributing to AJAX's seven goal opening term.

The rest of the game was no different, with AJAX unmercifully piling on goal after goal. By the final siren, AJAX had scored 25 goals to Pegs' one. The team also welcomed Jacobs, Lowe, Marabel-Whitburn and Schwartz for their first rodeo in the reserves; all of whom quickly proved they were well within their depth. Overall, the team once again performed strongly and has their eyes set on next week's target in Glen Eira.
