Round 9
4 June 2022
AJAX v Albert Park Falcons
We were looking to get off to a good start against a good Albert Park side. Kicking with the breeze in the first quarter we started brightly and had a lot of the ball.
Goldman was doing well in the ruck against a much bigger opponent with Shustin and A Caplan getting a bit of the ball. Although we had more of the play, it was Albert Park who scored the first two goals of the game.
Albert Park got well on top in the second quarter and slammed on 3 goals to none to lead by 5 goals at the half. T Blum, Amira and J Caplan were trying hard along with Grek and J Gabriel in the backline.
The Jackettes regrouped at half time and had the better of the 3rd quarter. Shustin was in everything and scored a great goal with Taylor looking dangerous in the forward line. Goldman continued to battle hard, with the Caplan girls both throwing everything at it.
The last quarter saw the Jackettes again break even in general play. Klooger tried hard, T Blum never stopped trying along with Fleiszig. Albert Park were too good on the day, but our girls did well to break even on the scoreboard in the 2nd half.
We now have a week off where a few of the girls get to freshen up, rest a few of their knocks and start the remainder of the season refreshed.
